BACKGROUND

Hailing initially from a background in graphic design, I excelled at the Multimedia Authoring course in Arthouse in the late 90’s.
My first digital role was with Riverdeep and over the next 6 years I worked my way up to Team Lead in EmergeSmart. In the early 2000s I took a career break to complete to Honors level, my MA in Interactive Media from DIT. My Thesis was “Pervasive Computing: Connecting the Beast“ and I’m fascinated at how this has developed over the years into ‘The Internet of Things’.
In 2004, I founded Glimmer Digital Design and in 2005 founded the collaborative entity FLK Studio. Individually and collaborative I worked on high-end digital, web, motion graphic and branding projects for clients such as MyHome.ie, IXDA, Electric Media, Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, Ogilvy, Learnex, RTE, Intuition Publishing, EMI, Universal Music, Festival of World Cultures, Ground 4D and Refresh Digital.
From 2005 I was a Lecturer in DIT, teaching Postgrad and Masters level across multiple courses in the School of Design and the School of Media where my mantra was concept driven learning. I concentrated on giving my students exposure to industry centric learnings and encouraging them in storytelling and being solution driven, not program driven.
In 2010, I wound down my involvement in FLK studio to concentrate on in-house consulting for companies such as MUZU.TV, Arekibo, Xwerks and Ogilvy & Maher. I also took on the Lead Creative for the Interaction 12 Conference (IxDA) Committee and branded the conference across all mediums - print, digital, stage and screen.
In 2012 I left DIT to take up a full time role with Ogilvy & Maher as Senior Digital Art Director, where I led a team of digital designers and was responsible for all digital outputs, pitches and advertising campaigns.
After Ogilvy, I returned to consulting and took up project long roles for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, RMG Digital / DDFH & B, RRD Creative, Fidelity Investments and Synchronoss.
In 2017, I joined BriteBill / Amdocs as a Senior Product Designer and quickly moved up to Creative Design Team Lead. I head up major billing transformation projects for Fortune 500 companies and International Telco's from inception to completion.
A natural born teacher, my vast mentoring experiences enables me to entice the best out of designers and enable them to have the confidence to push their designs further. Plus given the dynamic nature of the industry I am still learning myself,  constantly up-skilling to ensure I stay ahead of the curve.
As a committee member of Darklight Film Festival (2010), the Interaction 12 Conference (IxDA) (2012), UX Ireland (2016) and am currently one of the Irish local leaders of the IxDA association (2018 - present), I embrace supporting the digital community in Ireland.
In my spare time, I’m a tad obsessed with extreme sports such as white water kayaking, MBT and trail running.
